Dewey Brown

Welcome!

Dewey Brown was introduced to bluegrass music at an early age. Born in Alamance County, NC to Flonnie and Dewey Brown. Learning the basics of fiddling from Scott Greason. When he met J. B. Prince his fiddling skills advanced. His time with J. B. taught him the basics of Old-time fiddling. He also studied with two other great teachers Bob Bowling and Young Sheffield.

After several years of local fiddle competitions he entered the Galax Fiddlers Convention in 1999. At the age of 17 and a senior in high school won first place and never entered another competition again. Following year he joined the band BlueRidge with Terry Baucom, Alan Baucom, and Randy Graham for the next two and a half years. He had the opportunity to fill in with Goldwing Express, David Parmley & Continental Divide, The Bluegrass Cardinals, and the late Charlie Waller & the Country Gentlemen.

The summer of 2002, he began to work for Honi Deaton and Dream. He was apart of the groups first project. He also filled in for IIIrd Tyme Out, the James King Band, and the Roland White Band. While playing bluegrass music Dewey earned an Associates Degree in Business.

Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley called Dewey the summer of 2005 to play fiddle. He has since recorded and produced a solo project available at County Sales.

Dewey's fiddling heroes are J.B. Prince, Kenny Baker, Bobby Hicks, Chubby Wise, Benny Martin, Vassar Clements, Joe Green, Mike Hartgrove, Bryan Berline, Glen Duncan, Stuart Duncan, Aubrey Haynie, and a few others.

Dewey is truly a bright shining talent in bluegrass and old time music. Be sure to check out the new project!
